The Captain Kidd is not an old pub, though it looks like it, with its stone-flagged floor and wooden beams and panelling. It is in reality a converted seventeenth-century warehouse, and a listed building. However, Sam Smiths have done their usual superb job in creating this popular pub. It is situated at the end of its own secluded little courtyard. The rear of the main bar has windows overlooking the Thames, a very pleasant location when they are open on a warm summer’s day—you feel that you could almost reach out and touch the river at high tide. At the rear of the pub there is a large south-facing terrace, with seating, overlooking the Thames. From here there is also a fine view of Canary Wharf, especially by night.
