The Horniman is situated on the riverside at Hay’s Galleria, an elegant covered open space with its arcades, shops, cafes, and sixty foot bronze kinetic art installation, called The Navigator. It’s easy enough to find—it’s got a bloody great battleship next to it, HMS Belfast. Occupying part of a tea warehouse, this Nicholson’s pub is named after the tea trader who established Horniman’s Tea, once the biggest tea company in the world, and who also founded the eponymous museum in South London. The Horniman has a covered outside terrace and seating next to the river, and the interior décor is traditional wood, tiles, wrought ironwork and chandeliers, with a mezzanine restaurant overlooking the Thames.
