The King’s Arms is a hidden gem, something that’s becoming increasingly rare, a good, characterful, traditional backstreet local pub. One of the Windmill Taverns Group, in addition to being known for its outstanding cask-conditioned real ale, they have great food, a Thai restaurant in the large room at the rear. Its location, Roupell Street, is a late-Georgian conservation area mainly of terraced houses, once railwaymen’s cottages, but now expensive and highly-desirable properties. Due to its unspoilt character, its location, Roupell Street evokes a bygone age and has been used as a filming location.
