The Market Porter is famous as one London’s foremost real-ale pubs. The walls and ceilings are festooned with beer pump clips, hundreds of them, not mere beer mats as in some pubs, demonstrating the wide and varied selection of ales that have been sold here. It has an appropriate setting for its name, occupying a prime location directly opposite Borough Market, a foodies' paradise. This area is frequently used for filming, for its old Victorian character, one example being the Harry Potter film The Prisoner of Azkaban, in which the Night Bus drops Harry next door on Stoney Street at The Leakey Cauldron, The Market Porter itself becoming the Third Hand Book Emporium.
